Experience
Alexander Horn is Partner with Grant Thornton’s Transaction Advisory Services department in Vienna, Austria. He has more than 16 years of transaction advisory experience covering (cross-border) buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence projects, carve-outs as well as sale and purchase agreement advisory.
His primary areas of expertise are cross-border transactions involving territories such as Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the United States and Eastern Europe.
Alexander has worked with clients in a wide range of industries including diversified industrials, chemicals, food and fragrances, software, packaging, loyalty programs, building products and engineering.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Alexander spent over three years with Transaction Advisory Group of Alvarez & Marsal Switzerland, where he supported the local managing directors in launching the Swiss practice. Before that he spent over three years with EY Austria and almost 10 years with PwC Austria/Germany.
At all prior firms Alexander worked on multiple cross-border deals in particular with US-based clients or targets. At EY Austria he worked on several large sell-side financial carve-out projects with revenue of the targets over €1.3bn. During his time at PwC Austria he was responsible for expanding the Eastern European deals coverage and led financial due diligence projects on the ground in Ukraine, Russia, Poland and Kazakhstan.
Education and Professional Qualifications
Alexander holds a degree in Business Administration
(Dipl.-Kfm.) from the European University Viadrina, Germany. He is a CFA charterholder and a licensed US-CPA.
He has participated in several executive education programs including:

- Negotiating for Value Creation at IMD
- Launching New Ventures at Harvard Business School
- Oxford Private Equity Programme at Saïd Business School
